About Dan
Before founding Cornerstone Financial Planning, I served for 11 years as a physical therapist in the United States Army, including two deployments to Afghanistan. During that time, I became deeply interested in financial independence, investing, entrepreneurship, and real estate investing. I had become "that guy" people talked to about money, so I began blogging about financial independence and factor-investing strategies. While on my second deployment, I decided to transition out of active-duty military service and launch Cornerstone.
As my own faith and wealth-building journey evolved, I found myself wrestling with bigger questions surrounding stewardship, purpose, generosity, and impact. Those experiences continue to challenge me and shape both my life and the way I serve clients and my community today. It has been an ongoing journey of learning, growth, and being challenged to think more intentionally about how wealth can be used to serve others and make a meaningful impact. It’s a journey I genuinely enjoy and feel grateful to be on, as stretching as it is!
My wife, Jessica, and I live in Colorado with our son, Luke. We moved here from Germany, where we spent my final 4.5 years on active duty, traveled extensively throughout Europe, and where Luke was born. We enjoy traveling, hiking, and spending time outdoors together, especially in places like Switzerland, Norway, Italy, France, Austria, and of course the Rocky Mountains.
Although I transitioned from active duty to launch Cornerstone Financial Planning, I continue to serve in the Army Reserve as a physical therapist and have approximately 4 years remaining before reaching the 20-year service milestone. I’m passionate about helping increase financial literacy among service members. I also have a strong passion for faith-driven entrepreneurship and strive to steward both my family’s wealth and Cornerstone Financial Planning with wisdom, integrity, generosity, and long-term purpose.
